The school “Met Hasa” is located in the structural unit DR_UB_AS1_480/105 , Durrës and is positioned on a plot surrounded on 3 sides by the existing facilities of the area and to the north-east by “Aleksandër Goga” street. The purpose of this project is the reconstruction of the school on the same land with a total area of 1932 m2, with the same function as a secondary school.
In collaboration with architect Michele Cro, we came up with the idea of creating a building that could be open and closedthe closed at the same time, open to the community on certain occasions or outside of school hours and private in the normal course of school activities.The distribution of spaces located on only two floors is characterized by ease of movement for children, teachers and staff. The compositional planimetric scheme follows a distribution that is efficient and at the same time changes the experience of movement within the school: the transparency of the common spaces and the atrium in the east-west direction, together with the presence of the large garden in the courtyard.
The rectangular geometric shape with an inner courtyard creates a sustainable development of communication and maximum use of space. The courtyard space is oriented from the inner space , thus providing gathering space and recreational space. In communication with the main road, the object exhibits a linearity which makes this building gain more horizontality, thus respecting the altimetry that characterizes the area. This treatment makes the architectural form stand clear and calm in the urban chaos of construction.
